The 5 eBay Page Design Basics
Venturing into eBay is not different from venturing into any other kind of business. The only difference is that you are maintaining an online site instead of an actual store. Although this difference really exists, you must understand that maintaining an online store is also not different from maintaining a store and in order for you to maintain your eBay store; you must start from the basics – your eBay page. Before you get started, read through, know more and try to understand the 5eBay page design basics.
1. How wide is your page?
Remember that not all computer screen resolutions are the same. What may look good on your screen may not look good in your customer’s screen and one of the things that may look different in different screens is the width. All web contents are displayed in dots or in pixels, and giant computer screens just have bigger and fatter dots but most viewers are believed to have screens that are 800 pixels wide, and a seller, you’ve got to make sure that your content and photos are no wider that unless you want your viewers to scroll sideways.
2. Break up your eBay page.
Remember, a page that keeps on running on is not good! It is much easier to navigate a page if it is broken into sections and ideas. It is much easier for your viewers to skip around and move to the areas that the think is best. Your page may also be broken with horizontal divider lines, tiles, tables, colored sections or photos.
3. Photos
While photos look wonderful on ME-page, the Picture Services of eBay does not host them. In this case, the best thing to do is to put and upload your photos online or you may alternatively use the eBay Picture Manager to store your photos online.
4. Lettering and Fonts
You my have a lot of fonts installed on your computer but remember, most users’ computers can only recognize those that come in the system by default. Needless to say, your viewers can only see and those that are also installed in their computers. So instead of using those spiffy fonts, stick to the following:
- Times New Roman
- Arial
- Verdana
- Courier
- Comic Sans MS
- Trebuchet MS
5. Text Sizes and Colors
Users are often fascinated when they discover that they can add color and change the sizes of their text. It has always been exciting and fun to see and discover your mastery but never forget that results still matter. Remember that colors should only be used to help your readers pass through or navigate the transition in your content. You should use only around two or three font colors on one page, one color for the body text, one color for the tiles, and change the colors for the theme in your highlights.
The size is also important as it makes it easier for your viewers to read the contents on your eBay page. Remember that the headings should be bigger or should have a different color to make them stand out against the other texts on your page. Simplicity is beauty and it won’t do you any harm if you stick to the few basics on your eBay page. Just change the color, the size and the style only when necessary or when you want to emphasize something.
Venturing into any business online is such an overwhelming idea especially when all you can hear about is how profitable and effective it is to do business here.
